What is mixing?

Mixing is a process of music production that contains designing the sound and effecting to make a track more cohesive and adding more resources such as reverb, equaliser, compressor, spatial audio editor, and so on.

There are generally two types of the way of mixing. First it is called in-the-box, which is mixing the audio session on a digital mixing effector. It is required to make music with more numerical preciseness. All the values are into the digital effector so that the producer can view and consolise all the values by their own. Compared to analogue, as it shows the sound shape more clearly with number, it could be mixed towards making the balance of the number in dial, rather than listening the sound and making the sound better.

There is a way to mixing using both ways so making each elements can be fit with more appropriate effector. Mostly saying, the analgoue effector have a good function to preserve the original sound and make up the quality with immersive amplifying. As most digital equipments have, digital mixing effector coul dmake the sound more clear and lighter, otherwise analogue have an ambient mixing processing.

It actually depends on the preference which type of mixers the producers use, ultimately it is going towards higher quality musical outcome.
